New York - Animoto, the developers of a Web application that lets users automatically generate video slideshows from their photos and music, announced on Thursday that it has received an investment from Amazon.com (NASD: AMZN).

Since its launch in August 2007, New York-based Animoto's website has attracted over 160,000 registered users, while its Facebook application, which debuted in March, has over 750,000 users.

The site uses Amazon Web Services for all of its technical infrastructure needs.

"In our first eight months, we've helped make photo sharing fun again," said Animoto co-founder and CEO Brad Jefferson.

"Now we're ready to accelerate our team growth and product development to establish Animoto as the ubiquitous rendering platform for generating high-production value video from images and music."
