Georgia Offers Tax Credits to Movie, Game Makers

Atlanta - Georgia's Gov. Sonny Perdue this week signed into law a bill that will offer big tax incentives to lure entertainment industry companies to the state, including film, TV and music video productions, as well as video game developers.

The new incentives include a 20% tax credit for qualified productions, plus an extra 10% credit "if they include an animated Georgia promotional logo within the finished product."

The state said the incentives will put Georgia among the top fives states in the U.S. in terms of financial competitiveness for entertainment projects.

"We know that our excellent talent base and outstanding locations make Georgia a very desirable place to film," Gov. Perdue said in a statement.

"This legislation puts in place the economic cornerstone that will encourage producers to convert that desire into action."
