Midlothian, Va. - Video game publisher SouthPeak Interactive said on Thursday that it has raised $6.5 million in its first round of funding, which came in conjunction with an acquisition that closed last week.

Through that deal, the company went public by acquiring a majority stake in Global Services Partners Acquisition Corp.

Midlothian, Va.-based SouthPeak exclusively utilizes independent studios to source and produce all of its video games, minimizing the company's overhead costs.

The company publishes action, role playing, racing, puzzle, strategy, and other games for all the major hardware platforms.
