Ann Arbor, Mich. - Borders Group (NYSE: BGP), which operates a chain of 1,100 stores that sell books, music and movies, announced on Tuesday that it has re-launched its own new e-commerce site, after severing a seven-year relationship with rival Amazon.com (NASD: AMZN).

The move comes several months after Borders announced plans to explore a possible sale of the company, which have already attracted interest from fellow bookseller Barnes & Noble.

"The site has several innovative features that we believe shoppers will find compelling, and importantly, we will be able to market it to our over 26 million Borders Rewards loyalty program members who will now be able to earn and use program benefits online as well as in our stores," said Borders CEO George Jones.

Among features on the site is "The Magic Shelf," which features new releases alongside staff picks and personalized recommendations.
