Hong Kong - Chinese ringtone retailer A8.com has filed for an initial public offering on the Hong Kong stock exchange, and aims to raise up to $28 million, China Web2.0 Review reports.

Founded in 2000, A8.com sells ringtones, ringback tones and interactive voice response (IVR) services -- along with wallpapers and mobile games -- through leading Chinese wireless carriers China Mobile and China Unicom.

The company sells a combination of licensed and user-generated ringtones, and says that over 10,000 artists have contributed more than 50,000 original pieces of user-generated content to the service.

A8.com reported $41 million in revenue and $7.9 million net profits in 2007.
