New York - Glam Media, a network of over 500 websites and blogs targeted at women that count a collective 35 million unique monthly users, announced on Thursday the launch of GlamTV, a new video distribution and advertising platform.

The GlamTV service packages content with ads for hyper-targeted audiences, and will include programming from partners including E! Online, Sony BMG's Myplay.com, CelebTV, Lifetime Networks, TV Guide Broadband and Turner Broadcasting's TheFrisky.com.

Publishers in the Glam network will be able to serve video from these sites as well as from YouTube, Brightcove and other providers.

VentureBeat reports that Glam recently received a $1.3 billion acquisition offer, but will likely turn it down because its investors "see a bigger opportunity for Glam to build a large business for high-end display advertising," according to a source to the company.
