Report: Tribune Pondering Sale of Tribune Media Services Units

Authored by Mark Hefflinger on May 29, 2008 - 9:50am.

Chicago - Media conglomerate Tribune (NYSE: TXA) is pondering a sale of its Tribune Media Services businesses, which provide online TV listings and also produce and aggregate news and entertainment content, the Chicago Tribune reported. At least two suitors have expressed interest in the TV listings businesses, sources with knowledge of discussions told the Tribune.

"We're providing certain information to parties who have expressed interest in some of the assets owned by TMS, but we have made no decision concerning those assets, and in no event would we sell all of TMS," a Tribune spokesman told the Chicago Tribune.

Tribune also recently sold its Newsday asset to Cablevision for $650 million, and is looking to sell the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field.
