Marina del Rey, Calif. - The U.S. market for advertising-funded mobile entertainment content will be worth $336.35 million by 2013, expanding the mobile entertainment space by 4.6%, according to a report from industry trade group the Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF).

Brands subsidizing content will contribute the majority of this revenue ($262.7 million), while the remainder will come from premium content up-sells ($73.7 million).

Broken down by content sector, mobile video and TV will generate 41.4% of ad-funded revenues, while music will account for 34.5% and games 24.1%.

Separately, MEF announced that it has partnered with market research firm NPD Group to launch the first U.S. sales chart for mobile games.

The chart will initially be released monthly, and will be compiled by NPD with data from MEF members.

"Until now, mobile gaming was a sector of the industry that had been wholly under-tracked for the US market," said Jill Braff, SVP of global publishing at Glu Mobile and a leader of the MEF Mobile Games Chart initiative.
