San Francisco - Creative Commons, the less-restrictive copyright scheme developed by Lawrence Lessig, is looking to sell off its music remix community ccMixter, PaidContent reports.

The site allows artists or anyone to upload music, or download music posted to the site for sampling or creating remixes for sharing with the community.

It is free to use, and does not accept ads or money from contributing artists, who have included David Byrne and the Beastie Boys.

A Request For Proposals on the Creative Commons site indicates that offers must be submitted by July 29.
