Hollywood, Calif. – Buzznet, a social media company that operates sites centered on music and pop culture, on Tuesday announced the beta launch of Celebuzz.com, an online social network for fans of celebrity news and gossip.
Buzznet has recently been on an acquisition spree, buying noted music blogs Stereogum and Idolator for its music community, and securing strategic partnerships with existing celebrity blogs Just Jared and A Socialite’s Life.
Celebuzz will feature content from both its own editorial team and celebrity bloggers, photo and news agencies, pop culture experts, celebrities themselves, and users of the site.
The site will also allow users to create their own customized profiles, comment on and share stories, and connect with others with similar interests.
Despite the fact that a number of successful celebrity-focused site already exist — such as Perez Hilton and TMZ.com — Celebuzz GM Karina Kogan told CNET News.com that fans of such content will use "more than one source to get the same exact story."
They’re interested in different points of view, and frankly, they’re happy to look at the same photo ten times, just in different settings."
