Redwood City,
Calif. - Video game developer and
publisher Electronic Arts (NASD: ERTS) announced on Wednesday that it has acquired ThreeSF,
a social network for gamers founded by original Napster creator Shawn Fanning.
While
financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, the Los Angeles Times cites
a personal familiar with the deal saying the purchase price was roughly $30
million.
ThreeSF's Rupture operates a service that lets games post news of
their various accomplishments.
The acquisition was initially reported on a
month ago by TechCrunch.
