Fair Lawn, N.J. - LiveU, a developer of technology that can transmit live video over wireless networks, announced on Thursday that it has raised $9 million in a second round of financing, co-led by Canaan Partners and Carmel Ventures.

Founded in 2006, New Jersey-based LiveU, which maintains research and development in Israel, is developing a platform for transmission of live video directly from the field to the Internet and TV, over wireless networking such as 3G, Wi-Fi and WiMAX.

The company, which has now raised $12 million to date, said its technology is currently being piloted by a number of national and international TV broadcasters.
