Authored by Mark Hefflinger on June 13, 2008 - 8:56am.

New York - Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) has withdrawn from its attempt to acquire the Weather Channel, according to a report by Reuters on Friday, which cited sources close to the negotiations.

Time Warner declined to raise its bid on Friday, a preset deadline, according to the report.

The move leaves a sole bidder for the Weather Channel -- a group that includes NBC Universal (NYSE: GE), Blackstone Group and Bain Capital -- which has offered $3.5 billion to acquire the company.
