Boston - Private equity firm Bain Capital Partners has agreed to pay $441 million to acquire D&M Holdings, a Japanese manufacturer of consumer and commercial audio-visual electronics products under brands including Denon and Marantz.

D&M said that, after the acquisition, it "intends to continue its active pursuit of acquisitions and growth in the consumer, commercial and automotive audio/video businesses."

"If Bain Capital acquires D&M through the tender offer, we believe we will be better positioned as a privately held company to be more flexible in the fast-paced changing markets in which we compete," said Eric C. Evans, D&M's chairman and CEO.
