New York - Representatives of the Beatles are in talks with Activision (NASD: ATVI) and Viacom's (NYSE: VIA) MTV Games, makers of the "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band" video games, respectively, on deals that would license Beatles songs for inclusion in future iterations of the games, the Financial Times reported on Monday. The deals are reported to be worth "several million dollars," sources told FT, and could be completed within weeks.

Any such agreements would also require the approval of major record label EMI, which owns the Beatles' master recordings, as well as Apple Corps, which manages the band's interests.

Both "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band" have been blockbuster hits for their respective publishers, and have also helped to boost music sales for artists whose songs are featured in the games.

Band-branded special editions of the games are also in the works, as Activision is releasing a version of Guitar Hero featuring Aerosmith this month, and is also expected to release another special edition featuring Metallica.
