New York - Vitrue, an Atlanta-based provider of social media marketing technology, has acquired UGENmedia, a New York-based social media marketer.

Terms between the two privately held firms were not disclosed.

Vitrue said that the acquisition enhances its capabilities to offer "turnkey social media solutions" and provides a strategic New York presence.

Vitrue was founded in 2006 and is backed by more than $15 million of funding from firms including General Catalyst Partners, Dace Ventures, Comcast Interactive Capital and Turner Broadcasting.

The company said it will retain its headquarters in Atlanta and UGENmedia's operations in New York.
