San Francisco - Independent animation network aniBoom announced on Friday that it has closed a $10 million second round of venture capital financing.

Draper Fisher Jurvetson, DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures and previous investors Evergreen Venture Partners participated.

Founded in 2006, San Francisco-based aniBoom has built a network of more than 4,000 independent animation creators from over 70 countries, who have posted thousands of movies on its website.

The company is also currently running a music video creation contest for songs from Radiohead's "In Rainbows" album that counts nearly 1,000 entries.

aniBoom will use the funds to expand operations, fund short form premium content for Web and mobile platforms, and develop original animation series for television.
