Washington - Searchles, the developer of a social search platform, said that it has landed a new round of angel funding to increase its total backing to nearly $2 million.

The financing follows Washington-based Searchles' launch of a new platform for online media companies, designed to analyze the content consumed by site users and connect them to other users with similar interests.

"As proposed partnerships with a few major media properties move forward, this additional funding will help us in keeping pace with demand," said Elias Shams, the company's CEO.

The technology behind Searchles is an evolution of the search engine Dumbfind, developed by company founder and CTO Chris Seline.
