San Mateo, Calif. - CafePress, a service that allows for the creation and sale of user-generated, customized merchandise, announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Imagekind, a site that sells user-generated, high-quality framed art.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2006, Imagekind offers framed art images from more than 50,000 established and emerging artists from all over the world.

"Acquiring Imagekind allows us to do two things," said Cafepress CEO and co-founder Fred Durham.

"First, it allows us to provide a richer fine art solution to the community of artists, designers and entrepreneurs who are already among our 6.5 million shopkeepers.

"Additionally, it provides the opportunity for fine artists who haven't discovered us, to have the type of success that Cafepress shopkeepers have had selling apparel and gifts since 1999."
