Vancouver, B.C. - NowPublic, an online "citizen journalism" network, announced on Thursday that it has acquired Truemors, venture capitalist Guy Kawasaki's site "dedicated to the free-flow of the news rumor mill."

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Vancouver, Canada-based NowPublic is a crowd-sourced, participatory news network that counts contributing reporters in more than 5,500 cities in 160 countries.

Truemors solicits user-generated newsworthy rumors across topics ranging from entertainment and gaming to sports, news and health, and pays its contributors per post that is accepted.

"Truemors is exciting in that it puts trust in those on-the-ground and in-the-know -- the perfect complement to NowPublic," said NowPublic CEO Leonard Brody.

"With the acquisition of Truemors, NowPublic's news reporting capabilities continue to expand. Our ever-growing eco-system of reporters is changing the way news is produced and distributed."
