Sunnyvale, Calif. - Yahoo (NASD: YHOO) said on Thursday that it plans to offer more than 400 ad-support casual game titles by the end of this year. The games, available as free downloads, will include titles more than two dozen publishers, and be integrated with video ads from Double Fusion and NeoEdge.

Yahoo also plans to sell paid downloads without advertising. Kyle Laughlin, the company's head of games, called the in-game advertising a "win-win," allowing Yahoo to "monetize our games experience while providing the best and most popular games free to game enthusiasts."

Separately, Yahoo said on Thursday that it has entered into a multi-year sports content and advertising deal with Turner Broadcasting System (NYSE: TWX).

Under the agreement, Turner will exclusively represent online advertising sales for the NBA, golf and NASCAR pages of Yahoo Sports.

Additionally, Yahoo Sports will gain access to basketball, golf and NASCAR content from NBA.com, PGATour.com, PGA.com and NASCAR.com.

Interesting

I have been following Multigames.com and Kongregate for some time and ad supported flash games are a really great concept. Using download games will increase the possibility to sell more powerful ads. And with Yahoos traffic it should create a real impact.
