Los Angeles - Nintendo on Tuesday announced plans to release a new add-on for the motion-sensing controller for its Wii game console that "allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player's arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion," as well as "Wii Music," the company's answer to popular games like "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band." The Wii MotionPlus accessory hooks into the bottom of an existing Wii Remote controller, so that "every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play."

The company said that the accessory will debut in the spring of 2009 alongside a new crop of Wii sports titles.

Reuters reported that "Wii Music," slated for release later this year, will allow players to simulate more than 60 different musical instruments.

Finally, the company announced plans for a second Wii accessory -- this one a group microphone called "Wii Speak" -- that is also slated for release later this year.
