San Francisco
- Ngmoco, a new publisher of games for Apple's (NASD: AAPL) iPhone, announced on Thursday
that it has raised an undisclosed sum of first round funding, led by Kleiner
Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) with participation from Maples Investments.
The investment in San Francisco-based ngmoco is part of KPCB's iFund, an
investment initiative focused on companies creating applications for Apple's
iPhone and iPod touch.
"The iPhone is the next great game platform and we
see an incredible opportunity to build games worthy of the customers that use
it," said Neil Young, the veteran Electronic Arts developer who left that
company to found ngmoco.
