New York - Time Warner's (NYSE: TWX) AOL has acquired Colorado-based Socialthing, developer of a social networking news feed service designed to help users trace the Internet activity of friends, according to a report in TechCrunch.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Socialthing, which has been operating in private beta mode since last year, reportedly raised $300,000 in funding last fall.

The news comes following AOL's recent launch of AIM BuddyUpdates, which lets users of the company's AIM instant messenger follow the activity of their buddy list members on social networking sites.
