Blockbuster to Conduct Test of NCR DVD Rental Kiosks

Authored by Mark Hefflinger on August 5, 2008 - 11:17am.

Dallas - Video rental giant Blockbuster (NYSE: BBI) announced on Tuesday that it has signed a deal with NCR to deploy 50 Blockbuster-branded DVD rental kiosks in a pilot program slated to begin in the third quarter.

The companies announced earlier this year that they would test NCR's kiosks in select Blockbuster locations, the first of which will be installed in two Dallas stores this summer.

The kiosks are expected to eventually expand their services to include DVD and video game sales, as well as digital downloads.

"Looking beyond this initial deployment, our mutual goal is to have 10,000 kiosks installed within 18 months," said NCR chairman and CEO Bill Nuti.

eh

People are (lol) fighting a pirating war ? i guess some things must be done so the majority can be "impressed" but seriously the war against software piracy and audio/video rips is a joke.
