Youth Sports Web Community Weplay Lands $8.6 Million

New York - Weplay, the developer of an online youth sports community, announced on Tuesday that it has landed an $8.6 million second round of funding, led by Deep Fork Capital.

Previous investor FirstMark Capital, along with Weplay senior executives and pro athletes Derek Jeter, LeBron James and Peyton Manning also participated.

New York-based Weplay commenced its public beta in March, and has secured partnerships with Pop Warner Football and Cheer.

The site allows kids, parents and coaches to create profiles, blogs and fan clubs, organize team schedules, and post photos and videos.

The company's backers also include CAA's sports division and Major League Baseball Advanced Media.
