Los Angeles - French video game publisher Ubisoft has filed suit against the company it hired for disc duplication of its "Assassin's Creed" PC game, alleging someone at the firm leaked an unfinished, purposefully buggy version of the game online and cost it sales and harm to its reputation, GameSpot reported.

Ubisoft sued North Carolina-based Optical Experts Manufacturing, alleging an employee there posted a copy of the game to the Internet six weeks before its release -- which was downloaded over 700,000 times.

The PC version of the game had sold around 40,000 copies as of June.

Ubisoft filed $10 million claims each for breach of contract and gross negligence, and is also suing for copyright infringement.
