Report: Playlouder, U.K. ISP to Launch Unlimited Music Service

London - Playlouder MSP, a service that lets users legally download music from file-sharing networks while tracking traffic and compensating rights holders, has partnered with one of the U.K.'s top ISPs and will soon launch an unlimited music download service, PaidContent reported.

While the company would not confirm the ISP, a source told PaidContent that broadband provider Virgin Media was in unspecified talks with Playlouder.

The six largest ISPs in Britain recently pledged to take steps to curb illicit media downloading on their networks, in the face of looming legislation.

Playlouder's service can recognize any download on an ISP's network, whether it be from BitTorrent or between individual users, and uses this data to compensate artists and copyright holders from a pool of subscription fees.
