Intel Launches Mass Animation Project On FacebookAuthored by Jay Baage on August 15, 2008 - 12:37pm.
Los Angeles - Intel Corp. is launching The Mass Animation project in which it will combine computer animation and social networking to produce an original animated short film. According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), it will be produced and directed by Yair Landau, former vice chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and president of Sony Pictures Digital. Intel is going to launch a Facebook page where animators can access a collaborative application to be able to work together with established and aspiring animators to create the animated short, which will be distributed over the Web. "This is a great opportunity to bring together Hollywood and the Facebook community," said Michael Hoefflinger, general manager of Intel's partner marketing group, to THR. "If we manage to tell a good story and introduce compelling characters through this, let's see if we can do, for instance, a feature-length project."
