New York - Lewis Dvorkin, the former senior vice president of AOL News and Sports, has landed an undisclosed amount of funding for his new venture, an online news network called Public Post, PaidContent reported.

Investors include Forbes Media and Velocity Interactive Group.

Dvorkin, who departed AOL in May following eight years at the company, said that the news aggregation site, which isn't yet live, will feature a slate of "knowledgeable" reporters -- including individual journalists, authors, bloggers and documentary filmmakers -- that are a step up from the "citizen journalists" featured on several other sites.

Dvorkin will be joined by former coworker Andrea Spiegel, who will be the company's chief product officer.

Spiegel previously served as a vice president at AOL, as well as the editor-in-chief and vice president of content at Freewebs.
