Sony Introduces $500 160GB PlayStation 3, Updated PSP

Foster City, Calif. - Sony Computer Entertainment America (NYSE: SNE) on Wednesday announced plans to introduce a new $500, 160GB PlayStation 3 bundle, as well as an updated version of its PSP handheld that will bring an improved LCD screen and built-in microphone.

The $500 PS3 bundle, slated for release in November, will include the game "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune," as well as a voucher to download "PAIN" from the PlayStation Network.

Sony added that its previously announced $400, 80GB PS3 has started shipping to retailers.

The updated PSP, available in North America as of today, features a new LCD screen "with a wider color gamut and anti-reflection technology."

Finally the company also announced plans to introduce a new Bluetooth-equipped Wireless Keypad peripheral for the PlayStation 3.

The keypad is set to ship in late November in North America, and in Japan, Europe and Asia by the end of the year.
