San Francisco - Yahoo (NASD: YHOO) and Intel (NASD: INTC) on Wednesday announced a partnership that will see them collaborate on the development of Web widgets that will bring interactive features to TV viewing.

A new Intel chip will be marketed to makers of televisions and set-top boxes, that will enable them to access Yahoo widgets that provide features like e-mail checking, news, weather and sports scores.

The companies will create a Widget Channel, accessible directly via TVs and set-tops, where users will be able to select and activate the widgets.

Partners that have signed on to develop and deploy TV widgets include Blockbuster, CBS, Disney-ABC, eBay, GE, Joost, MTV, Samsung, Toshiba and Twitter.
