New York - Verizon is close to signing a deal with Google to provide search technology on its mobile phones, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The deal has reportedly been held up over terms for the sharing of search advertising revenue, people familiar with the matter told The Journal.

Also under contention is the matter of whether Google will be able to retain data from mobile users' searches.
