Report: Podcast Consumption Up; Still Not a Daily FixtureAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on August 29, 2008 - 8:48am.
Washington - While podcasting "has yet to become a
fixture in the everyday lives of Internet users," consumption is on the
rise, as 19% of all Internet users say they have downloaded a podcast, up from
12% in August 2006, according to a new report from the Pew Internet &
American Life Project.
The number of available
programs has also nearly doubled, from 26,000 podcasts with 1 million episodes
in November 2006, to over 43,000 podcasts and well over 2 million episodes today,
according to the Podcast Alley directory.
