DigiMeld Lands $2 Million for Online Video Streaming

New York - DigiMeld, a provider of live and on-demand video streaming services, announced on Wednesday that it has raised a $2 million first round of financing, from unnamed angel investors.

New York-based DigiMeld said it plans to offer content providers a service that allows them to create unlimited video channels that stream standard and HD video over the Internet while conserving bandwidth and minimizing costs.

The technology is similar to peer-to-peer, but the company says that, unlike BitTorrent, its service only stores a portion of the streamed content on the recipient's computer, which is continually overwritten as new content arrives.

DigiMeld tested its service with NASA Television on a range of live streaming events, including a shuttle launch.
