Philadelphia
- Comcast (NASD: CMCSA) has quietly expanded its Fancast broadband service to include paid
video downloads, to compete with similar offerings like the iTunes Store,
Amazon Unbox and CinemaNow. The Fancast Store, now in beta, offers 3,100 movies
and TV episodes, at prices ranging from $1.99 to $9.99. Download rentals are
also available starting at $3.99. Previously, Fancast had offered streaming
video content from partners including Hulu. Gizmodo further reports that
Comcast plans to soon launch a Fancast Mobile application that enables live
video streaming to mobile phones, along with features like remote DVR
scheduling.
