- SemantiNet, a stealth-mode company developing software that "enables the
discovery of new information as part of the natural browsing experience,"
announced on Thursday that it has secured $3.4 million in first round funding.
Investors included Giza Venture Capital, and individual contributors Sir Ronald Cohen, co-founder of Apax Partners; Dr. Joseph Vardi; and Jeff Pulver. Founded in 2006, Israel-based SemantiNet plans to launch its first product later this month, which it says will "combine leading-edge semantic web technology with crowd-sourcing, state-of-the-art cross-platform multimedia and integrated browser functionality."
