Mountain View, Calif. - Raptr, a social network based around online games, on Thursday announced its official launch, and disclosed that it raised $12 million back in February from Accel Partners and the Founders Fund.

Mountain View, Calif.-based Raptr's client application tracks what games a user is playing across platforms including game consoles, PC, Mac, online and social networks, and shares this information with friends, alerting them when a new game is starting, for instance.

Friends can also track one another's gaming in real-time via Facebook, Twitter, FriendFeed and other social media services.

The company was founded by Dennis Fong, whose Xfire social gaming network was acquired by Viacom for $102 million in 2006.
