Los Angeles
- Joost, the peer-to-peer streaming TV service founded by the creators of Skype,
has decided to abandon its desktop client software strategy in favor of a
Web-based platform with a downloadable plug-in, GigaOm reports.
The plug-in would comprise the peer-to-peer functionality that delivers content to a user's browser. Joost, which has raised over $45 million in venture capital, has seen usage of its desktop client application fall lately, due to a variety of reasons. The company is expected to announce the decision to drop the desktop application soon, according to GigaOm.
