San Francisco - Lookery, the operator of a social network-centric ad network, has raised $2.25 million in new funding, from investors including Attractor, Holtzbrinck, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and several other partners at Silicon Valley venture firms, VentureBeat reported.

San Francisco-based Lookery initially operated an ad network on Facebook, but has since expanded its services more broadly.

The company is "aggregating user-reported data from, and with the permission of, social networks, dating sites, ISPs, and e-commerce sites. We are offering the aggregated targeting data back out via our ad network customers, statistics widgets, as well as unbundled targeting, APIs."

Lookery CEO Scott Rafer told VentureBeat that the company respects U.S. and international privacy laws, and does not collect names, email, exact birth dates or other personally identifiable data.

correction

it's not "several principals of venture capital firm Sand Hill Road" but rather 'partners of several Sand Hill Road venture capital firms [investing as individuals].'

Thanks

You're right, Scott. Thanks for the heads up. --Mark Hefflinger
