Music Application Developer The Echo Nest Raises Funds

Somerville, Mass. - The Echo Nest, a developer of music search, recommendation and interactivity technology, announced that it has raised an undisclosed sum of first round funding, led by Commonwealth Capital Ventures and angel investors.

Somerville, Mass.-based Echo Nest was co-founded by two MIT Media Lab PhDs.

The company this week launched its developer's tools, a set of more than 30 tools for music websites that include artist data, music search, recommendations, remix applications, mash-up and analytic tools.

The Echo Nest will use the funds to expand its marketing, sales and business development efforts.
