Mountain View, Calif. - Americans conducted 11.7 billion
Internet searches in August, with Google (NASD: GOOG) extending its lead in the market by
another 1.1% over Yahoo (NASD: YHOO), according to new figures released by comScore.
Google
now handles 63% of all searches in the U.S., followed by Yahoo (19.6%),
Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) (8.3%) Ask Network (4.8%) and AOL (4.3%).
The figures did not include
searches for mapping, local directory or user-generated video sites.
