Apple: Citizen Journalism Report of Steve Jobs Heart Attack False

New York - Apple (NASD: AAPL) has denied a report posted on CNN's iReport citizen journalism site that said its chief executive, Steve Jobs, had suffered "a major heart attack" and was rushed to an emergency room, Reuters reported.

"It is not true," Apple spokesman Steve Dowling told Reuters.

Before the story was denied by Apple and removed from the iReport site by CNN, it had sent Apple shares down more than 2%; shares later recovered, rising nearly 4%.

Jobs, a cancer survivor, has recently elicited some worry among investors, who expressed concern with his markedly more gaunt appearance last month at the unveiling of the new line of iPods.

Jobs made a joke then about the issue by walking onstage before a screen that read: "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated."
