San Jose, Calif. - Melodis, a developer of search and sound recognition technology, announced on Monday that it has raised $7 million in its second round of financing, led by TransLink Capital.

JAIC America, and previous investor Global Catalyst Partners also participated in the round, which will be used to monetize and distribute the company's Midomi service, as well as to fund other search and sound recognition products in development.

Founded in 2005, San Jose, Calif.-based Melodis' Midomi application lets users discover music by singing, humming, speaking, typing or playing original music scores into their mobile phones.

The company recently released a Midomi application for Apple's iPhone, and added another for the iPod Touch today.
