Social Media Advertising Firm Appssavvy Lands $3.1 Million

New York - Appssavvy, a provider of social media advertising services, announced on Tuesday that it has secured a $3.1 million first round of funding, led by True Ventures with participation from About.com founder Scott Kurnit.

New York-based Appssavvy operates a direct sales team that connects brands and agencies with companies creating widgets and other social media applications.

The company, which claims an audience of more than 50 million users of social media applications, has worked with partners including 42 Friends, Bantr, Flixster, Playfish and Social Gaming Network.

Appssavvy has executed campaigns for brands including adidas, Clorox, MGM and Sony Pictures.
