Los Gatos, Calif. - Online DVD rental service Netflix (NASD: NFLX) has announced plans to effect a $1 per month increase in its subscription prices for those renting high-definition Blu-ray movies. netflix blu ray price increase

it's odd that they would raise prices now, after the blu ray launch crawls along more slowly than planned. and, since they buy direct from all major studios, and not at standard blu ray pricing. sounds like another way to eek our some more $$$ (and share with the studios) i'll wait for the pre-dvd downloads on the Playstation Network (like HANCOCK for example)
