New York - Wix, the developer of an online application that helps average users create Flash-based websites, announced on Thursday that it has raised $3.5 million in new funding, from Mangrove Venture Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners.

New York-based Wix has created a drag-and-drop editor that allows users to pull media from the Web or their own libraries to create Flash-based websites, without having to know any HTML or other coding.

Since launching its open beta in June, Wix says it now counts hundreds of thousands of monthly unique users, and is seeing over 1,500 new websites and 600 new widgets created daily via its application.

Wix on Thursday also introduced a new premium version of its service that will cost $9.90 per month.

The company, which has now raised a total of $8.5 million to date, will use the new funds for marketing and product development.
