San Diego - Eventful, an online local event listings service, announced on Wednesday that it has secured a $10 million third round of financing, led by Telefonica with participation from previous investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Bay Partners.

San Diego-based Eventful said it counts nearly 8 million registered users for its service, which is used by over 50,000 performers.

The company sends over 40 million permission-based emails, and counts 100 million widget views each month.

Eventful will use the funds to expand sales and marketing, increase mobile initiatives and explore international expansion opportunities.

The company also told Billboard that it has signed a deal with Ticketmaster (NASD: TKTM), which will become the ticketing provider for its service.

"It's a marketing agreement that promotes access to Ticketmaster and (subsidiary) TicketsNow tickets to our users through our Web site and e-mail programming," Eventful CEO Jordan Glazier told Billboard.

"So if you got to Eventful and find an event you're interested in, you click to buy tickets and it goes over to Ticketmaster."
