Buzz Watch: 123 Days Until The End Of Analog TV

Authored by Jay Baage on October 16, 2008 - 7:18am.

In all seriousness, what will happen to network ratings in 123 days? How many households will not be ready and hooked up to converter boxes? How many will choose not to bother and just watch their favorite shows online instead? Watching Shelly Palmer count down the days to the end of analog television reminds me that we are actually approaching a milestone in media. TV has been king of the media castle for decades in the United States and in 123 days, advertising dollars might actually start trailing media consumption habits more closely if TV households take a dip. That is good news for online media. For those of you eager to find out more about what will happen when digital TV takes over, don't miss our upcoming Future of Television Forum East in NYC on Nov. 18-19. See you there!
