Eindhoven, The Netherlands - Consumer electronics firm Philips on Monday announced that it has spun-off its digital audio and video fingerprinting business, which will now be known as Civolution. The company said that Prime Technology Ventures has provided funding for the new company; Philips, along with undisclosed others, will also be limited partners in Civolution. Earlier this year, Philips bought the outstanding stake in Teletrax -- the original name of the fingerprinting business -- that it didn't already own.
